I’m proactively engaged in circulating this NAP which promotes AMR discourse between policy makers and regulators who fund the scientific community in collaborative multi disciplinary work and promote knowledge sharing.

Political leadership needs to be convinced about the urgency and scale of the economic crisis facing biomedical students and researchers who have dedicated their lifetime to harness the ultimate capability of scientific knowledge in developing vaccines, targeting “drug-targets” in the microbial arsenal, informed with chemiinformatic tools to identify lead compounds for developing novel drugs.

Overprescribing of antibiotics in primary care is one of the important drivers of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) interna- tionally. Previous studies estimated that one-fifth of UK antibiotic prescriptions in primary care are unnecessary or inappropriate.

The Department of Health and Social Care is an important POLICY MAKER in funding the NAP national action plan for combating AMR.

it reviewed the evidence collected from all stakeholders including human healthcare, farming, veterinary medicine and agriculture from within and outside the United Kingdom.

Finding from this call for evidence will further inform in-depth engagement with stakeholders, identifying potential priorities and interventions considered.

The NAP focuses on 3 key ways of tackling AMR

  • reducing the need for, and unintentional exposure to, antimicrobials

  • optimising the use of antimicrobials

  • investing in innovation, supply and access
